It is easy to cherish tradition but difficult to do it in real life. Civilization is usually based on resorting to convenience and a cost rules the life. By only a paper-thin margin like devotion or abandon, tradition would be kept in fragmented days.
When you walk on a stone-paved road which was tradition of the Rome, it means, it is same that you walk on persistent effort whether it is an intention of the government or not. France, and some countries, has a common but a bit strange building regulation that restricts refurbishing a building to conservation of scenery of the town. It must be useful to keep the visible tradition but the law is applicable also for just ten-year-old buildings. Color of the wall, shape of the roof, etc. I don’t know it is a good way to make sure of conserving our essential life based on traditional culture.
At least, such a regulation would help unexpected encounter of missing time.

伝統を守ろうとすることは難しくないが、実際に実行することは簡単ではない。文明は利便性に頼ることを基礎とし、その人生はコストに支配されている。わずかに信仰心と諦めによって、伝統は分断された日々のなかで維持されているのだろう。
ローマの伝統である石畳の道を歩く時、それが行政の意図するところであろうとなかろうと、たゆまぬ努力の上を歩いていることを意味している。フランスやいくつかの国は、ありふれてはいるが少しばかり奇妙な法律を持っている。つまり、街の景観を保つよう建物の改修を制限する法である。それは視覚的な伝統を保持するに役立つに違いないが、築10年であっても法は適用される。壁の色も屋根の形もである。それが伝統文化に根ざす基礎的な生活の保存するものなのかはわからない。
少なくとも、このような法により失われた時への不意な出会いを後押しするようではある。
