Bonne journée

Bonne journée(30): A steam locomotive

201405-005In the present age, steam locomotives are mostly working only for a pleasure train. One of the reasons is, of course, an environmental issue. However, I think the main reason would be a difficulty of maintenance rather than CO2 emission. Operators are always checking here there and everywhere at each stations.

For a long while, I have forgotten what was happened when a steam locomotive worked. Grey smoke and gusty steam with a full blast sound. Then heavy ashes falling.

Have fun with an ancient technology once in a while.

ここしばらく、蒸気機関車が動く時に何が起こるかをすっかり忘れていた。灰色の煙と激しい蒸気とつんざくような音。そして大量の灰。

たまには、いにしえの技術で楽しもう。

201405-015I will post another picture of the locomotive again as a part of Wordless Wednesday.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Work of Art

201405-013An industrial design is a kind of art, sometimes for me. Especially, a mechanical architecture has both complexity and systematic faces inside of it in nature. Today, it is difficult to see the fundamentals when we glance it.

201405-031In spite of difficulties of knowing fundamentals, we sometimes find a sophisticated architecture in it. Perhaps, it is because we always learn from nature.

Weekly Photo Challenge: On the Move

201405-007It is said that a steam locomotive changed the way of industrials and our lives. Maybe it’s true. We can move quickly and sometimes we think the old transportation system was so slow that we couldn’t have a better life. Indeed, now we have a faster train.

201405-020But also it is true that we sometimes think our lives would be better if we move slow. Probably still we are on the move toward new civilization.

201405-022Even when we miss our way,I believe, we have to keep on going.

201405-021BTW, I don’t recommend you go the sea around Mont Saint-Michel without any professional guide. Sea water moves very fast.
