Bonne journée(25) : night and snow

昨日の雪は、準備の無い横浜や東京には少々多すぎた。あっさりと鉄道や道路などの交通網がダウンした昨年に比べれば、多少は準備で出来ていたとも言えるのかもしれないが、それでも朝から降り続けた雪が午後になって風をともなうようになると、インフラは悲鳴をあげはじめる。実際のところ、10cmの雪は、何もかも想定外のところにあるのだろう。吹き溜まりには30cmもの積雪があり、スタッドレスタイヤを用意していても、慣れないドライバはそれと知ることもなく危険な運転をすることになる。

ある時期に新潟市に過ごした身からすれば、10cmの積雪で全国ニュースになるなら新潟の雪にもっと対策したらどうかという気にもなるが、要は慣れなのだ。地吹雪のようになれば車のライトをつけて速度を落とすとかそんな類のことである。対処ができれば雪の楽しみ方もある。ビオラの雪もこの程度であれば美しいだけだが、これ以上になるなら重くなる前に吹き飛ばしておくほうがよい。

風の強い雪の夜はどこか恐ろしさを感じなくもない。日中とは異なる表情が見えてくる。

華やかなソチとは対照的な夜。

ただ、一夜明ければ現実が待っている。晴れれば雪かき。生活するとはそんなことなのだろう。

Photo panoramique: a sunny spot

A bit difficult to say “陽だまり(hi-da-ma-ri)” in English. A sunny spot could be a translation of hi-da-ma-ri but some differences are left. A word hi-da-ma-ri makes me come up with some warm places in winter time which has been missing for a long time and will be.

Literally, hi-da-ma-ri means a place gathering sunlight or a puddle of the sun. It is not a spot but a space in which a lot of portions of the sunlight are piling up.

Photo panoramique: colours of winter

Someone said that the winter landscape was visually boring. Yes, exactly, it must be difficult to say it’s a kind of Roy G Biv. A mixture of gray and brown dried up grasses, a dark coat in a morning, no leaves, etc. At least, generally speaking, January is far from clear, bright and polite days. But, is it really true? Seems yes but sometimes no.

冬の景色は退屈である。そう誰かが言っていた。確かにそうである。虹色とは言い難い。灰色と茶色の枯れ草、朝を急ぐ暗い色のコート、枯れたような木々。少なくとも、一般的に言って1月は、澄んだ明るく清楚な日々とは違っている。だが、それは本当だろうか？正しいようだが、正しくもない事もある。

In Yokohama, you can find many fragments of colours here and there if you have watchful eyes. It is flooded with winter colours. You may see even a sign of Spring as energetic children know well.

横浜では、注意深く見れば、そこここに沢山の色の破片を見つけることができる。冬の色が零れ落ちている。春のしるしさえも、子供達が知っているように。

New year’s visits

The last day of 2013 was calm and passing gently in Yokohama. At least, it seemed to be suitable for spending a time with my family. A sound of a bell of temple was telling the new year.

Though common Japanese are not devotional as I wrote ever, new year’s visit to a shrine or a temple is ordinary custom. Exactly saying, visiting temple is completely different from praying at shrine.

To ding a bell of a Buddhist temple is done around the midnight of the last day and, in general, it should be 108 times. Maybe as you know, its tone is very low. Interestingly, people may visit a shrine also in order to pray a happy year. The first picture was taken at a Buddhist temple just after finishing preparation of year-end ringing a bell.

The third picture was taken at a shrine, close to the temple in the first and the second pic, where many people were praying for 2014.

年末年始は、比較的穏やかな陽気となった。風もさほど強くなく、気温も徐々に上がって、春めいていて感じられる。今年一年が良い年となることを祈りつつ、横浜より。

The world is going in real time. Everything on our planet is always changing. But still you only know what you see. What you learn from a news show might be happened one day, one month, one year or one century before. Our life is not so different from a day of Julius Caesar? Probably, no. It must be a kind of gloom and doom.

Today we may have a new power, Web technology as a common infrastructure, which provides us a real-time information, sometimes with wonders.
At least, even if it is just a fraction of a daily life, we would know the world, gathering all of things. Network would be going to improve our planet consisted of various senses of worth. I believe that it is important to know,
c’est important de le savoir.
