Bonne journée(30): A steam locomotive
In the present age, steam locomotives are mostly working only for a pleasure train. One of the reasons is, of course, an environmental issue. However, I think the main reason would be a difficulty of maintenance rather than CO2 emission. Operators are always checking here there and everywhere at each stations.
今日では蒸気機関車は、ほとんどの場合、観光列車として動いている。ひとつの理由は、もちろん環境問題だ。だが、思うに、主要な理由は二酸化炭素の排出というよりメンテナンスの難しさだろう。運転している人は、どの駅でもそこかしこを確認している。
For a long while, I have forgotten what was happened when a steam locomotive worked. Grey smoke and gusty steam with a full blast sound. Then heavy ashes falling.
Have fun with an ancient technology once in a while.
ここしばらく、蒸気機関車が動く時に何が起こるかをすっかり忘れていた。灰色の煙と激しい蒸気とつんざくような音。そして大量の灰。
たまには、いにしえの技術で楽しもう。

Bonne journée(29) : YEG, rose garden
もうまもなく、横浜市の花、バラの季節。横浜イングリッシュガーデンの薔薇もちらほらと咲き始めている。
秋薔薇の季節に比べると、他の花々も多く咲いているためか、まだ開花している薔薇が少なくても春らしく華やか（Weekly Photo Challenge）。
薔薇園の散歩がお目当てなら、天気の良い5月中旬から下旬にかけてが一番よさそう。でも、5月初めの今でも春は存分に楽しめる。

Bonne journée(28) : a day in Yokohama
誰もが桜のピンク色の空を見上げるのを忘れ始める頃、横浜は、陽光の匂いに満ちて海風の中に淡い緑を直接感じる季節となる。太陽の強い光のかけらは、潮風に揺れる芽吹いたばかりの透明な緑の隙間から、さざなみを路面に映し出す。連休を前に賑やかさを取り戻し始めた大通りは、やがて毎週のように予定されたイベントに集まる人々にあふれ、喧騒と静けさが混じり合った横浜らしい華やかさを生み出す。東京とは少し違う落ち着いた喧騒とでも言うべきか。
At a time that everyone almost forget he was looking up a pink sky of cherry blossom few weeks ago, it comes to be a green season in a sea breeze carrying scent of sunlight in Yokohama. The light projects a shadow of a ripple on the road through new clear-green leaves. The streets is going busy with people visiting festivals planned almost every weekend. Here comes usual bright and sedate Yokohama, different from energetic Tokyo.
相変わらず中華街は一年を通して賑わっているが、少し離れるだけで人は少なくなる。人混みに疲れたら、少し離れた大通りが良い。裏通りの小径よりも明るい大通りのほうが、かえってゆったりと時間が流れている。
Yokohama Chinatown is always crowded with tourists throughout the year. If you feel tired, you could go to broader street. A bright high street may be comfortable rather than small back streets. That’s Yokohama.
横浜に本格的な春を知らせるチューリップ祭りは大変な賑わいとなるが、あまり遠方から訪ねてくる人が多いイベントでもなく、どちらかと言えば手作り感いっぱいの地元の行事である。いつもは早すぎたり遅すぎたりでなかなかちょうど良いタイミングで行くことはできないが、今年ははからずも祭りの当日だった。残念ながら、ゴールデンウィーク前半でチューリップの盛りは終わり。このあとは、山下公園でも山手でも海を見ながら歩くのも良い。
The tulip festival tells the full spring coming. It is a kind of local festa for local inhabitants. Though a season of tulips will be over soon, you may find many other festivals. Perhaps, you may like taking a walk at seaside.
ゴールデンウィーク中の横浜パレードも楽しい。こちらも地元感たっぷりのイベント。横浜の小学校から崎陽軒や日産などの地元企業までが音楽とダンスでパレードに参加する。山下公園前からスタートするパレードの向こうに見える大型船が、横浜らしさを演出しているようでもある。やはり横浜は港なのである。
The Yokohama parade is going to be held soon. Sometimes a big ship can be seen over the parade. Yokohama is a harbor city.
