Perhaps it’s a bit strange to start with a summer memory but – needless to say it’s because I live on the northern hemisphere and it’s winter now – I would like to share the top picture which looks somewhat story telling for me. A place of pray is always interesting and in awe. The year 2017 in Japan will began at the midnight prayers as usual in tradition.
A Part of Wordless Wednesday.
It’s time to look back at the year 2016 with humble heart. I decided to start with black and white photos which always tell me what’s wrong with my composition. As usual, the picture at the top is, of course, new one.
この1年を振り返る時期がきた。今年は、構図のどこが悪いのか、いつもあからさまに見えてくるモノクロームから始めたい。
When you take a B&W photo with a film, you need to decide everything just before shooting. I loved ILFORD because of its damp images but it was quite difficult to imagine what was taken. Today it must be easier to do it. Indeed you can decide some parameters later having a cup of coffee.
フィルムでモノクローム写真を撮るとなると、シャッターを押す前に何もかも決めなければならない。私はイルフォードがその湿った出来上がりで好きだったが、その出来上がりを想像するのは大変だった。今ではずっと簡単で、コーヒーを飲みながらパラメータを決められる。
Question is if it’s really easy. Probably no. When I look into the finder, my brain never teach me what will be taken in B&W. Sometimes delicate contrast of complementary colours are missing and an unexpected structure appears instead.
問題は、本当にモノクロームの写真が簡単になったのかである。多分、そんなことはない。ファインダーを覗き込んでも脳はどんな写真が撮れるかは教えてくれない。それどころか微妙な色の対比は失われ、予想外の形が見えてくる。

because you have mostly caught the goal to be seen.
As you know my native language is not English but Japanese. This year I have tried to write haiku or shot poems in English with unfamiliar words for me. I hope it went well.
母語は日本語だが、今年はなるべく普段は使わない単語を含んだ短い詩を書くよう試してきた。少しでもうまくいったのなら良いのだが。
