Weekly Photo Challenge: Spring!

201405-002I already posted many ‘Spring!’ images such as Sakura(Cherry Blossoms), Tulips or Yokohama where I live. The spring for me is Yokohama with green leaves because of some reasons.

201405-001Though many of Japanese would say Sakura must be a typical spring image, honestly saying, I don’t like Sakura so much. It comes a bit unclean brown after a flower withers and give us a lesson of an ephemeral life. Spring could be an energetic season.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Letters

201404-044This old store seems to be abandoned as a business but maintained at a minimum. To read letters, it was a cigarette shop or a fuel store. A kind of grocery store where rice, alcoholic beverages and heating oil were sold was popular in Japan, at least, more than 30 years ago.

The name-board was repainted again and again and some letters are looked like a picture by multiple exposure. You could see yellow and black letters having similar shapes.

A Blue part on the left side of the picture would be a counter or showcase of cigarettes. Its graphics has a old style font both on Japanese letters and English letters.

You may find red checker board design at the lower part. It was like a mosaic and, probably, was a modern design. of course, I don’t know a blue part was painted with intention referring red checkers.

Though it is a bit difficult to explain some old letters, perhaps you could find traditional characters which is not used now.

Weekly Photo Challenge: On Top

201404-027A view on top of Pompidou Centre, Centre national d’art et de culture Georges-Pompidou in French, was like that. The picture was shot from an external staircase to the top floor where it is famous place as a scenic overlook.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument

201404-022The monument was built for a memory of the Nagano Olympic Games 1998. Interestingly this statue, which seems to be a ski jumper, is put in front of the skating rink. Something strange happened in 16 years? Addition to this, someone would left his bamboo broom there as you see. Nobody’s interested in a past Olympic Games? Probably it is because many of facilities for the games are still used commonly.

You can see the monument of ski jump as a real one.
