Lens-Artists Challenge #306: Habitat

There are no new photos in this challenge. All the photos were taken in France, where I used to live.

In the beginning of period I lived there, I didn’t see any squirrels around my place. Some of my co-workers told me that there were plenty of squirrels just next to me even when I was at urban area. It was a challenging and strange message to me. I didn’t see any of them at all. Perhaps, I didn’t have good eyes?

A year later, I was walking in the woods, and suddenly a squirrel appeared in front of me. It was not the acorn season, so it must have been busy collecting food. After this sudden encounter, I started seeing squirrels almost every day. There were a lot of squirrels in the immediate vicinity.

Then, I knew that it was the day when I became a part of that town. I got my own habitat.

Mostly Monochrome Monday #360

The road was narrow, surrounded by a fence, not straight, and impossible to see ahead, that was yesterday, and I of today know it is a straight shortcut.

その道は狭く、柵で囲まれ、まっすぐではなく、前は見通せなかった。それは昨日の話だが、今の私にはそれがまっすぐな近道であることが分かる。

Lens-Artists Challenge #304: Behind

Boring?
Well, the photo above is not interesting. It is a traditional Japanese room with tatami mats and a very low table. The reed blinds on the window might be interesting to some people. Some people might think that a cool breeze is blowing through them. But that was not my intention. What I wanted to capture was behind the reed blinds. The contrast of the roof tiles, the tropical plants and the shadows in the room made the room look cooler.

Lens-Artists Challenge #304: Behind

I know the next photo needs no explanation. Hydrangea is a rainy season plant, and it looks more beautiful in the shade. The temple behind the flower should have been more blurred. I actually took some blurry photos. But in the end, the blurry photos were just photos of flowers.

Finally, I would like to show my failure of paying attention the background. I wanted to take a picture of a bollard with a background of a bay and a bridge. Pan focus would be better but the focus should on a bollard. I didn’t find any concern. However, I realized my simple mistake. There was no bay water between me and the bridge on the picture.
