A Photo a Week Challenge : Something Pretty

It should be a good season to see some small wild animals. It is winter. Trees shed the leaves and grasses are getting smaller and waiting for a warmer wind. An European red squirrel was having a breakfast on a branch. It is always agile and cute but it is not so easy to be close but, once you watch it through your binocular, you may find its pretty shape.

A Photo a Week Challenge : Abandoned

There are lot of ruins in Brittany. Sometimes it was a church having the tallest tower in the town in 14th century, sometimes it was a part of castle wall in 16th century, and sometimes it was a small barn. Exactly saying, some of old architecture are still actively used. Even a historical abandoned architecture is giving the identity of this country. You may find several scroll here and there on the picture. Those are not typical ‘triskele’ of Brittany but are seen often.

A Photo a Week Challenge : #GiveThanks

A lot fo days have been passed after I moved to a new town and sometimes I found myself forgetting how to feel grateful not because someone else around me but my arrogance. I still cannot do anything by myself in this proud country and everyone helps me having a safe life under the difficult circumstance, though it should be always challenging for everyone. After all, we cannot be alone. It could be a good opportunity to remember how to express my profound appreciation. For Christmas time is coming soon.

A Photo a Week Challenge : Joy

A joy at such simple things as a sunny spot! As some readers know, Brittany in winter is a rainy country. Seven days a week, you have chances of rain and it starts from October and continues to March. Amount of precipitation is not so much but it rains many times in short time. As a result, many of people doesn’t take an umbrella. A good coat helps you very well.

A Photo a Week Challenge : In memorial

It was a very small seedling of Japanese maple, just one inch (3 cm). A young teacher found it in a park which was build on a historic spot and she brought it back to her home to show it to her small daughter. 20 years later, the tree grew up and was becoming tall. Her daughter moved to a different city and the tree was too big in her garden because it was just next to other trees. Finally she decided to cut down the maple tree in memorial. I don’t know how it is. At least, it was there at least several years after her decision.

A Photo a Week Challenge : Cityscape

Someone was saying on the news that Christmas sale in France will start earlier than common years because of the current difficult situation. Retailers need to sell enough to recover from the second quarter’s unexpected drop. Indeed, technicians seem already busy for installation of Christmas illuminations even when it is still before Halloween. Some shops are still trying to get the attention of pessimistic people using new culture such like Jack-o’-Lantern that comes from the United States, though it was originally Celtic culture.
