Weekly Photo Challenge: Habit

20131109-002I usually walk to the station of a commuter train every morning as common Japanese does. It takes around 20 minutes but a problem is not a time or distance but weak light of a morning in winter because I leave my home at 6 am. One of my favorite things to do is to listen to tweets of birds and to find a sign of coming season.

When I get to the station close to my office, the sun light is still diffidence sometime.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Eerie

20131102-001I’m not sure what this really is. Is it a kind of gargoyle? Anyway,I saw this strange object at the Tōshō-gū (東照宮) shrine, Nikko and felt some eerie thing. Probably, it is an imaginary elephant which was carried from China long long ago. (footnoted)

From ancient days, Tōrō (灯籠) has a eerie face. Some stories says you might see someone eerie around midnight and it would be a light tower.

Yukitten taught me that the animal in the first picture is Baku, imaginary one from China, having nose of elephant, feet of tiger, etc. Now I understand why such figure is there.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Horizon

20131027-001A horizon for me has been always a ridge line probably because I like skiing, tramping, water skiing on a lake. I don’t know the reason why I was far from the sea. Exactly saying, I lived in a house very close to a shore, 2 minutes to walk, for several years. It would be a likely reason that I was too close to the sea.

The picture is not where I lived but I like there.

Weekly Photo Challenge: The Hue of You

Pink roseUsually, I’m writing here about cross cultural things of France or Europe in Japanese. Basically, prominent colors of France seems to be a kind of earth color like brown, green, gray and so on, especially for common Japanese. However, I think, it comes from a color of building and brilliant red or pink can be a symbolic color of Europe.

Honestly saying, I prefer blue of sky and I believe it shines with bright colors. One of easy ways to see a shinning blue is to visit tropical islands but it is possible to do it in north Europe.
