The sky was grey and most of stores were closed. A lot of tourists and a few residents were strolling around the city aimlessly. It was the Assumption day afternoon. Nobody worked for delivery and I needed not to care of traffic.

My intention of the second picture was monochromatic expression of a traffic sign and a mailbox because I thought most of readers may see colours on it. However, in front of my PC display, I was wondering if it was enough expressive. After looking at some pictures, I have come to understand that a coloured picture would rather tells the atmosphere of the place.

聖母の被昇天の日の街は観光客を除けばすっかり静かで、いつもと少し違った風景である。

Paul Cézanne said « Avec une pomme, je veux étonner Paris » (I want to surprise Paris with an apple) more than 100 years ago and realism on a sill life was seen as ordinary if no ingenuity was found on it. His drawings sometimes have déformation and it gives a sense of existence. A question is how to follow him with a still picture. Of course, I have no clear answer now and probably will not find it.

セザンヌは「りんごひとつでパリを驚かせたい。」と言ったらしいが、あの歪んだ静物画が圧倒的な存在感で今も世界を驚かせていることは間違いない。
