Hydrangea macrophylla was originally from Asia, typically Japan, and brought to Europe. It is said that it was brought through the silk road a thousand years ago. It blooms in June to July in Japan but in August as well in Europe.
Dead petals are also beautiful, don’t them.

Beautiful Hydrangea! We get to see the blooms in March here.
blooming in march! can’t help waiting until june.
Beautiful!
Thank you. I really like the colors.
I love hydrangea. Thank goodness for the east bringing it to all parts of the world.
When I lived in France, I was always relaxing with seeing them. I also love them.
Grateful for the history of hydrangeas. They beautify many countries now, and yes, even the spent flowers are works of art.
Born in east, varied and prevailed in west, loved in the whole world. How fantastic.
My favorite flower, sadly we have none on our property although we had them in a previous home. I don’t have the heart to plant them although they grow well here, because I know it would mean certain death for them! Lovely choice for the week
I’m not so familiar with planting but I think perhaps it’s not so simple to have it. One of my friends taught me that a key was how to cut branches after summer.
Thank you for the history of one of my favourite flowers! In the Azores they build 3-5 meter high hedges and are used as fences for their cattle!
Azores islands of Portugal? I haven’t been there. It should be beautiful.
