A few weeks ago, I was at an old town and looking down a sea from one of windows at the ramparts. It was a peculiar experience. Everybody looks happy and everything is shining but what I was at was used as a lookout post hundreds years ago and it faced difficulties again a quoter century ago.
The picture was not taken for the challenge but I chose this one.

この写真は数週間前に撮ったものであって、今回のチャレンジを目的としたものではない。ただ、同じ意図を持って撮ったこの写真を見る時、どこかで世界と世紀を見渡すような感情を引き起こすものである。

The town I live in is full of energy and it gives me a lot of fun but, honestly saying, I don’t like the hustle and bustle of urban area. Actually the daily life of here my town obviously goes slowly compared with Tokyo and cranes in the sky indicate the town is enough young and still growing. However sometimes I thought if it could be a herd of giraffes at a bank of a watering place on the savanna. 

街は若くエネルギーに溢れているが、時々鏡のように輝く水飲み場のキリンの群を遠く眺めているような錯覚を覚えなくもない。

I’ll be absent for a while but it doesn’t mean the ending as you know. It’s just a preparation time for the next season.

I was gazing in awe at the sight. Everything seemed to be put in a lot of time and effort. It was old and frayed but still looked usable.

I didn’t need to know what the figures meant. It was made with squares and circles, saying something important while sailing.

ただじっとその光景を見つめていた。何もかもが手間暇かけてそこに置かれたようだった。古くくたびれたがまだ使えそうでもあった。

その数字が何を意味するかなど知る必要もない。四角と円で作られたそれは航海中の何かを語っているのだ。
