“Buddenbrooks” by Thomas Mann is well known also in Japan. A brown paperback in the picture is a Japanese translation published by Iwanami 25 years ago, originally 50 years ago. Thomas Mann was born in Lubeck, a city of northern Germany and said Queen of the Hanse, and it was my first overseas destination. A white hardcover book is a kind of illustration book which I bought there. I treasured a book “Der Bajazzo” (The Clown), also by Thomas Mann, which was my first book to read in German but now I miss it.
This challenge was set by the Daily Post.

I’ve never read any of his books.
I recommend you read a short novel like “The Crown” or “Tonio Kroger” if you don’t have a dislike of classics.
