Afternoon, when the russet west wind begins to stir,
slows into languor.
Light, rolling on the late-summer breeze,
spills through the narrow seams
of tired, fading leaves.
No matter how vivid the sky,
there comes a moment
when fullness turns to ending.
The rustle of oak leaves goes on,
in the west wind where fragments of straw are carried,
sweet as the caramel flaking from a kouign-amann,
yet leaving behind
a faint bitterness
at the back of the teeth.
Autumn afternoon, when the reddish west wind rises,
drifts in quiet languor.

It is obviously not perfect even though Google translation and ChatGPT were also used. It’s always difficult to translate a poem into different languages.
